Today’s episode is shining the light on one little known piece of a less popular story of American history, the Mexican American War. During the Mexican American War, a group of mostly Irish Catholic US soldiers abandoned the US Army to fight for the Catholic country of Mexico. The political and religious tensions of the conflicts of the middle of the 19th century played out a continent away from the Papal throne in Rome. Let’s see how it played out.
