The Gospel of Mark (Chapter 4) explores the teachings of Jesus through the lens of parables, using the analogy of a lit lamp not being hidden but placed on a stand to give light to all so that his followers' spiritual "light"—their good deeds and faith—should not be concealed but shine forth for others to see and glorify God.
