Our Lady of Sorrows

September 15 celebrates annually The Feast of Our Mother or Lady of Sorrows. This memorial honors the Mary and her profound suffering and grief during the life, passion, and death of her son, Jesus. The day commemorates seven key moments of deep maternal pain and sorrow in Mary's life, known as The Seven Sorrows of Mary: which are as follows: the Prophecy of Simeon who foretells that a sword will pierce her soul. Flight into Egypt by The Holy Family who flees from King Herod's wrath. Loss of Jesus in the Temple, when Mary and Joseph search three days for their young son in Jerusalem. Meeting Jesus on the Way to Calvary, when Mary encounters her son carrying the cross. The Crucifixion, when Mary stands faithfully at the foot of the cross. Taking Down from the Cross, when Jesus' body is removed and placed in her arms; and finally The Burial of Jesus: When her dead son is laid in the tomb.
