Mother Teresa of Calcutta was one of the most admired humanitarians and influential figures of the twentieth century. Mother Teresa died in 1997, at the age of 87 from cardiac arrest and heart failure following years of declining health. She breathed her last, in her tiny, humble room at the Missionaries of Charity motherhouse in Calcutta. She was canonized as a saint in 2016.
